According to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), medical efforts are now largely limited to children and the elderly, with supplies nearing depletion. In the Al-Shati refugee camp in western Gaza, civilians seeking care at UNRWA health centers voiced deep frustration, saying they are struggling to survive in increasingly dire conditions. The Israeli army renewed its assault on Gaza on March 18, shattering a Jan. 19 ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement with Palestinian resistance group Hamas. Nearly 52,400 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza in a brutal Israeli onslaught since October 2023, most of them women and children.
