Bakersfield, United States - April 30, 2025 04/30/2025 12:32 am GMT-0700 BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Kern County firefighters responded to a report of a vehicle crash on Highway 58 in West Kern County, near the Western Kern County Line. Upon their arrival, they discovered a vehicle that had gone off a 75-foot cliff and was lodged in trees below. The car was not visible from the road, prompting firefighters to utilize the victim's cell phone location ping to locate it. Firefighters extricated one patient and employed ropes and pulleys to lift the individual back to the road. The patient was then transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital with potentially minor to moderate injuries. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident. It remains unclear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
