A distracted motorcycle rider crashed into the back of a car and was knocked over, with her head just inches from being struck by a passing vehicle.

Dashcam footage shows the female rider focused on the other lane while moving slowly in Bangkok, Thailand.

She was trying to switch to the left but failed to notice that the car in front had already stopped.

The two-wheeler rear-ended the white vehicle, and she fell to the side before another bike narrowly missed her head.

She was not seriously hurt and quickly grabbed her things, including her shoulder bag.

The two road users then talked on the side to settle the damages on April 25.

Despite being one of the wealthiest countries in Asia, Thailand suffers from chronic underinvestment in its highways and education, contributing to its poor road safety levels. Only a handful of African countries are worse.

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.
