Boulder Police and Fire Dispatcher Sara didn’t expect her shift to continue after she clocked out—but fate had other plans. Just before 6 a.m. last week, on her way home from work, Sara spotted a vehicle that had rolled onto its side along Foothills Parkway due to icy road conditions.

Without hesitation, she sprang into action.

Normally the calm voice guiding others through emergencies over the phone, Sara became the first responder on scene. She quickly coordinated with arriving Officer Smith, helping him safely extract the driver from the wrecked vehicle.

“I’m just glad I could help in someone’s time of need and that she was okay,” Sara said.

Her quick thinking and compassionate heart turned what could have been a tragedy into a story of calm under pressure. Thank you, Dispatcher Sara, for going above and beyond the call of duty.
