VARIOUS OF PRO-PALESTINE DEMONSTRATORS MARCHING, CHANTING SLOGANS MANY CARRYING SIGNS, BANNERS AND FLAGS RABAT, MOROCCO - MARCH 28: Hundreds of demonstrators took to the streets of Morocco's capital, Rabat, on Fridayevening, March 28, to protest Israel’s renewed military operations in Gaza and show support for the Palestinian people. On International Al-Quds Day, the protest, organized by the Moroccan civil society group National Action Group for Palestine, began at Central Post Office Square, with crowds marching toward the parliament building. Participants included human rights activists, academics, intellectuals, and politicians, all calling for an end to Israel’s military campaign and the protection of Palestinian civilians. Protesters chanted slogans such as "The people want to liberate Palestine!", "We all say, ‘Long live Palestine!’", "Greetings from Morocco to proud Palestine!" Demonstrators also condemned the international community’s failure to halt Israel’s offensive, accusing world leaders of inaction as Gaza’s humanitarian crisis worsens. Al-Quds Day, proposed by Iran’s former supreme leader Ayatollah Khomeini after the 1979 revolution, is held each year on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan. The Israeli army launched a surprise aerial campaign on Gaza on March 18, killing nearly 900 people, injuring nearly 2,000 others, and shattering a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that took hold in January. More than 50,200 Palestinians have been killed, mostly women and children, and over 114,000 injured in a brutal Israeli military onslaught on Gaza since October 2023. The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
