A notorious thief wanted for a robbery spree was arrested under his dormitory bed in Thailand.

Koraphak, 22, dubbed a 'ninja thief' for constantly eluding arrest, allegedly duped second-hand sellers across the capital Bangkok and his hometown, Pathum Thani.

Police raided his residence in Pathum Thani on April 30, following reports from dozens of furious victims he had allegedly duped. He reportedly arranged to meet them before snatching their valuables - many of them expensive gadgets.

Footage shows police storming his room, initially finding it empty. After searching each corner, they turned their attention to his bed.

They yanked the mattress off and removed the wooden panels of the hollow bed - before finding the suspect squeezed in the confined space.

Police Colonel Chotiwat Luengwilai, commander of the Metropolitan Police Bureau's Crime Suppression Division, said: 'The suspect was wanted for fraud on a warrant issued by the Taling Chan Criminal Court. He said he admitted to committing theft to support his pet cats and online gambling habit.'

Officials said Koraphak trawled marketplaces on social media to find victims, with whom he would set up a meeting to buy second-hand gadgets. However, upon arrival, he would trick them into handing over the item before fleeing.

The ninja thief, who was wanted in 15 districts, reportedly used stolen vehicles or motorcycles with fake or missing license plates to avoid detection, police said.

In a press conference on Wednesday, one of the sellers named John said: 'He expressed interest in buying my 59,000-baht camera, and told me a delivery rider would come and pick it up. However, the rider was actually him in disguise, and he snatched it from my hands and rode off without paying.'

Another victim named Bee said: 'I met him to sell my iPhone 15. He asked to test its features, but as soon as I handed it over, he bolted. I tried to chase him and managed to grab his motorcycle, but he shoved me to the ground and I fell unconscious.'

Koraphak's mother said she noticed he has had a criminal streak since he was 17.

She said: 'I kept trying to correct his behaviour, but he ran away from home and continued stealing.'

Koraphak was detained at the Metropolitan Police Investigation Centre. However, authorities were still determining the charges due to the number of his alleged crimes.
