Phoenix, United States - May 02, 2025 05/01/2025 11:10 pm GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – Phoenix police attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a Ford F150. The location of the initial stop is unknown. The driver refused to yield, and felony flight was established. The Phoenix Police Air Unit and units from the Phoenix Police Tactical Support Bureau responded to assist. A tactical surveillance operation was initiated. The PPD helicopter began tracking the suspect from above while ground units followed at a safe distance. The suspect was tracked to a residential neighborhood near 27th Drive and Acoma Drive. The helicopter observed the pickup come to an abrupt stop on 27th Drive. The driver exited the pickup and began to flee on foot. Patrol and Tactical Support Bureau units quickly responded to the area and established a perimeter. The PPD helicopter tracked the suspect as he jumped multiple walls, cutting through residential backyards on 27th Drive. The suspect stopped in the backyard of a home near the 14200 block of North 27th Drive and attempted to hide from officers. Ground units converged on the home and began issuing commands to the suspect in the backyard. The PPD helicopter assisted with issuing commands from the helicopter's public address speaker. After several minutes with no response from the suspect, an arrest team approached the residence and entered the backyard. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. The Phoenix Fire Department was dispatched to the scene after the suspect began complaining of "chest pains." The suspect was taken to a local hospital in stable condition for precautionary evaluation.
