RAMALLAH, PALESTINE - MAY 4, 2025 - PALESTINIAN STATE: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met Sunday, May 4, with the Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Hristodulidis in the West Bank city of Ramallah. The leaders were supposed to discuss recent developments in the Palestinian territories and relations between the two countries. During the meeting, Abbas briefed Hristodulidis on the latest situation in Gaza and ongoing contacts with all parties. He emphasized that Palestine’s priorities are an immediate ceasefire, the release of hostages, and the urgent delivery of humanitarian and medical aid to the Gaza Strip. Abbas also underlined the need for a full withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza and called for the start of reconstruction efforts without the forced displacement of Palestinians. For his part, Hristodulidis reaffirmed Cyprus’s support for a two-state solution as the foundation for lasting peace and stability in the region. Earlier in the day, Hristodulidis visited Israel, where he met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a brief visit.
