A driver was stunned when he found a gecko appearing to hitch a ride on the windscreen of his car.

Footage shows the tiny reptile clinging onto the wiper at the front of a parked sedan in Suphan Buri, Thailand.

The creature did not leave even when the vehicle made a stopover.

However, when the animal noticed the owner had been watching it, the lizard crawled through a narrow space to hide.

The road user said: 'I found a gecko stuck on my car windscreen when I pulled into a motorway service station.

'It ran away when I tried to remove it. I hope he wasn't hurt.'
