GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo will celebrate World Tree Kangaroo Day on Saturday, May 17, with a lineup of conservation-focused activities—and one of its star residents, Kopa the tree kangaroo, is already enjoying the festivities with a crunchy snack.

The event will feature keeper talks, animal ambassador encounters, crafts, games, and live didgeridoo music by Lindsey Dank. Attendees can also visit the Alachua County Library Bookmobile and receive a free native tree while supplies last.

Kathy Russell and Jade Woodling will give a conservation talk highlighting the importance of protecting the species’ natural habitat.

The celebration is funded in part by Visit Gainesville, Alachua County.
