LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A dramatic rescue unfolded the morning of May 4 after a semi-truck crashed on Interstate 65 South, leaving its cab hanging off the edge just south of the Kennedy Bridge.

Louisville Fire Department crews responded at 9:47 a.m. and deployed a high point rope system to lower a rescuer into the cab. The operation lasted about 30 minutes before the driver was safely removed and transferred to Louisville Metro Emergency Medical Services.

Officials said the driver was not injured but was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Louisville Metro Police Department handled traffic during the incident. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
