VARIOUS OF INTENSE SMOKE RISINGPORT SUDAN, SUDAN - MAY 5, 2025: A massive fire broke out at Sudan’s largest fuel depot in Port Sudan, the country’s temporary administrative capital, following an alleged terrorist attack, the Energy and Petroleum Ministry said in a statement on Monday, May 5. The fire began in a kerosene storage tank and spread to other fuel containers at the strategic facility in eastern Sudan. Firefighting efforts are ongoing to bring the blaze under control, the ministry added, noting that no casualties have been reported so far. The statement condemned the attack, saying it was part of a series of assaults targeting Sudan’s civilian infrastructure and public services. “Such acts directly endanger the lives of Sudanese citizens and add to the criminal record of those aiming to destabilize the country,” the ministry said.
