Because the accident occurred near the border of three states, the other injured individuals were transported to hospitals in various cities, depending on the severity of their injuries and the availability of medical resources. The consulate has been working to ensure proper medical treatment for the injured and to assist the families of the victims with follow-up arrangements. It pledged to continue doing its utmost in handling the aftermath of the incident. Chinese diplomats have also urged U.S. authorities to conduct a thorough investigation, verify the circumstances, and formally report the findings to the Chinese side. The cause of the accident is still under investigation. In the aftermath, local police suspended traffic for seven hours to facilitate the rescue of the injured and the clearing of the scene. The consular team visited the injured in the hospital on Sunday, met with hospital officials and Idaho state police, and reported that the condition of the injured is generally stable.
