US: MOTION GRAPHIC - Severe storms to slam large parts of U.S.; tornadoes, hail and flooding possible
SHOTLIST: UNITED STATES (MAY 6, 2025) (ANADOLU - ACCESS ALL) 1. MOTION GRAPHIC SHOWING SEVERE WEATHER AREAS ON US MAPUNITED STATES - MAY 6, 2025: Severe weather is expected to impact large portions of the United States this week, with violent thunderstorms forecast to sweep across the south-central and northeastern regions. Weather authorities are warning of potentially life-threatening conditions, including tornadoes, damaging wind gusts, large hail, and flash flooding. The dangerous weather is being driven by a dynamic system fueled by the clash of cold upper-level air and surface heat. In the south-central U.S., states such as Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi are bracing for the most intense storms from Monday through Wednesday. On Monday night, hail the size of tennis balls and at least one confirmed tornado were reported in parts of Texas and New Mexico. By Tuesday, the storm system is forecast to expand from central Texas to eastern Mississippi, placing cities including Austin, Waco, and DeRidder on high alert. On Wednesday, the threat is expected to shift farther south toward southern Texas and Gulf Coast areas, including Houston, New Orleans, and Pensacola. In the Northeast, the storm threat extends from Ohio through Maryland and into parts of New York and New Jersey. Cities such as Philadelphia, Albany, Scranton, and Trenton may face severe weather on Tuesday. Some areas in New England could also see intense storms by Wednesday. Meanwhile, increased humidity and an approaching front are expected to trigger thunderstorms over the Florida Peninsula on Tuesday and Wednesday. These storms may bring damaging winds, heavy rainfall, and hail. Even moderate activity could disrupt air travel due to proximity to major flight paths.
