Israel: Israel conducts airstrikes in Yemen after Houthi missile attack near Ben Gurion Airport
ISRAEL (RELEASED ON MAY 6, 2025) (USERS MUST CREDIT ‘ISRAEL DEFENSE FORCES ' - MUST NOT OBSCURE LOGO ---EDITORIAL USE ONLY) COMPLETE SHOTLIST TO FOLLOW ISRAEL (RELEASED ON MAY 6, 2025) (USERS MUST CREDIT ‘ISRAEL DEFENSE FORCES ' - MUST NOT OBSCURE LOGO ---EDITORIAL USE ONLY) - The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out a series of airstrikes in Yemen on Monday, targeting Houthi military and economic infrastructure in what it described as a response to a missile attack near Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. According to an IDF statement, approximately 20 fighter jets struck dozens of "terror infrastructures" along Yemen's coastal strip, deploying 50 munitions. Among the targets was the Bajil cement factory east of Hodeidah, which the military claimed was used to fund and build tunnels and military facilities for the Houthi group. Israeli media reported that the air raids focused on over 10 locations, including concrete factories and the strategic port of Al Hudaydah. Channel 12 stated that 48 strikes were conducted, with dozens of warplanes participating in the operation. An Israeli official described the attack on Al Hudaydah’s port as a "massive blow." The strikes came a day after a Houthi-launched missile landed near Ben Gurion Airport, wounding eight people and prompting at least 12 airlines to suspend flights. The Iran-aligned group has repeatedly targeted Israel in solidarity with Hamas amid the ongoing war in Gaza. Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV reported six raids on Al Hudaydah’s port and additional strikes on the Bajil district, including a cement factory. The channel claimed at least two people were killed and 42 wounded in the attacks. The United States has not commented on the strikes.
