On May 5, at Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station, a woman was suspected of forcibly prying open a high-speed train door, preventing it from closing. Witnesses claimed she did so to wait for an elderly woman who was behind her.

On May 6, the Shanghai Railway Station authorities issued a statement addressing the incident: At 11:52 a.m. on May 5, high-speed train G1673 was completing passenger boarding at Platform 7 of Shanghai Hongqiao, its originating station.

During the normal door-closing process, a passenger in Car 6 suddenly felt unwell and rushed to get off, becoming caught in the door. To ensure the safety of both the passenger and the train, railway staff immediately intervened and pulled the passenger safely back onto the platform. The passenger was unharmed, and the train departed safely and on time.

Just weeks earlier, on April 18 at Shenzhen North Station, a woman forcibly blocked the door of train D2404 with her body—ignoring staff warnings—just to wait for three companions. She was later placed under administrative detention by Shenzhen Railway Police for “obstructing the normal operation of a public transport vehicle.”
