WIDE SHOT OF OFFICERS AND VEHICLES OUTSIDE CLINIC BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA - MAY 6: A court in Argentina has ordered a raid on Clínica Olivos as part of the ongoing investigation into the 2020 death of football legend Diego Maradona, judicial sources confirmed Tuesday, May 6. The raid, authorized by Oral Criminal Court No. 3 of San Isidro, was carried out by the Buenos Aires Provincial Police to seize Maradona’s medical records from November 3 to 11, 2020—the period when he underwent surgery for a subdural hematoma. Prosecutor Patricio Ferrari, who requested the measure, said the operation aimed to secure both digital and paper records, as well as communications between the medical team and Nancy Forlini, a health plan coordinator and one of the defendants in the case. A heavy police presence was deployed outside the clinic to ensure the procedure was conducted without disruption. The Complex Crimes Division of the Buenos Aires Provincial Police led the operation, searching for missing evidence related to medical procedures performed between November 11 and 13, 2020. The decision followed testimony from clinic director Pablo Dimitroff, who presented a pre-surgical study not included in the official medical file. This contradicted earlier statements by ICU chief Fernando Villarejo, who had claimed no routine tests were conducted before Maradona’s surgery. Maradona, one of football’s greatest players, died on November 25, 2020, at the age of 60. Seven healthcare professionals are currently on trial, charged with simple homicide with eventual intent. The investigation continues as authorities seek to determine whether negligence contributed to the star’s death.
