This is the terrifying moment campers clung to a canopy as a powerful storm hit a park in China.

Families were caught in violent winds that forced them to hold onto their tents to prevent them from being blown away in Zhejiang on May 1.

Footage shows a grey teepee being dragged by the fierce gusts while a group of youngsters and their guardians can be seen standing over the canopy, gripping it tightly.

Other nearby tents were seen struggling in the wind, with their structures collapsing amidst the heavy rain.

The filmer recalled that other campers evacuated and stayed in their cars.

She said: 'We eventually moved out because the kids were already scared.'

No injuries were reported from the incident. Authorities have urged residents to stay alert and indoors during storms.

The region's rainy season typically begins in April, reaching its peak in July and August.
