Storyline: China's auto output, sales see robust growth in Q1 amid consumption incentives [Voice_over] New data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers shows the country’s auto production and sales grew by double digits in the first quarter of the year. According to the CAAM, vehicle output surpassed 7.5 million units, a nearly 15 percent increase compared to last year, while vehicle sales surpassed 7.4 million units, a more than 11 percent year on year increase. Amongst those, new energy vehicle output surged by more than 50 percent to about three million units, with sales registering a 47-percent increase from 2024. Officials say the country's expanding incentive and trade-in programs have been driving sales. [Sound_bite] Chen Shihua, Vice Secretary-General, CAAM: "Looking ahead to the second quarter, the synergistic effects of these policies, along with new model launches at major auto shows and promotional campaigns across the country, will further unleash consumption potential and sustain market growth." [Voice_over] Data from the CAAM also shows that the country's auto exports increased in Q1 with roughly 441,000 new energy vehicles exported, a 44 percent increase from last year.
