A toddler looking for snacks while playing accidentally locked himself in the fridge without anyone looking before being freed.

The three-year-old youngster JK was playing ball outside and went into the kitchen to find some food in Rizal, the Philippines.

JK sat on the shelf and pulled the door, trying to playfully hide, but could not open it.

CCTV footage shows the youngster closing the door in front of him. Seconds later, he was heard crying from inside the refrigerator.

His grandfather Roy Gajisan went into the room but did not notice JK screaming for help until his grandmother Nancy arrived.

Nancy quickly searched for the source of the crying boy and opened the appliance on April 28.

JK's uncle James Bryan said: 'We were cleaning the house when it happened. The refrigerator was turned off, and the two layers of shelves were removed so he fit inside perfectly.

'My father thought the sound of a crying kid came from our neighbour, but my mother knew something was wrong.'

The little boy was taken by his grandmother into the bedroom. He was unhurt.
