An osprey that had become tangled in baling twine was rescued in Colorado.

The bird became stuck while attempting to use the twine as nesting material just south of Pagosa Springs. It was reportedly found hanging upside down on May 5.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) contacted La Plata Electric Association (LPEA) for assistance in the rescue.

Footage shows a responder from LPEA skillfully using a lift truck to reach the bird, carefully avoiding its razor-sharp talons during the delicate operation.

Eventually, the osprey - also known as a sea hawk, a large fish-eating bird of prey - was freed and seen flying away from the area.
