KENTWOOD, Mich. — For the third consecutive year, a mother duck chose the courtyard of the Justice Center as her nesting site—and once again, Kentwood Police stepped in to ensure a safe journey for the growing ducklings.

On May 6, officers and court staff from the 62-B District Court helped escort the family from the courtyard to a more suitable outdoor habitat. The escort was affectionately dubbed a “high-speed quackdown” by the Kentwood Police Department.

Video shared by the city shows officers gently guiding “Momma Waddles” and her ducklings along a path to freedom, continuing a local spring tradition that has captured hearts.

Officials said no feathers were ruffled during the relocation, and the duck family is now off to begin their next adventure.
