VARIOUS OF CHARITY WORKERS DISTRIBUTING FOODGAZA CITY, GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - MAY 6: On May 6, the Turkish Red Crescent on Tuesday May 6, distributed food to displaced Palestinians in Gaza City, as the humanitarian crisis worsens under Israel's ongoing blockade and attacks. The organization said it provides 15,000 hot meals daily in both the northern and southern parts of the besieged enclave. Dozens of Palestinians, including children, crowded around the distribution site, with many walking long distances and waiting for hours under harsh conditions in hopes of bringing food home to their families. Gaza’s 2.4 million residents rely almost entirely on humanitarian aid, which has been cut off since Israel closed the Kerem Shalom, Zikim, and Erez crossings on March 2. The Israeli army renewed its assault on Gaza on March 18, shattering a Jan. 19 ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement with the resistance group Hamas. Israel has killed over 52,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children, in Gaza since October 2023. The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
