This is the dramatic moment Palestine supporters confronted police in a rally at the University of Washington (UW) in Seattle.

Footage shows the mask-wearing protesters, who were part of a student group called Students United for Palestinian Equality and Return (SUPER), cursing at a row of helmet-wearing officers, on May 5.

A fired shot was later heard as police moved in to clear the encampment.

The students had temporarily occupied a building in the Seattle campus to urge school authorities to cut ties with Boeing.

The multinational aerospace corporation, which had donated toward the building's construction, was accused of arming Israel in its conflict with Palestine.

UW said in a May 6 statement that around 30 people were arrested.

The statement read: 'About 30 individuals who occupied the building were arrested and charges of trespassing, property destruction and disorderly conduct, and conspiracy to commit all three, will be referred to the King County Prosecutor's Office. Any students identified as being involved will also be referred to the Student Conduct Office.

'The UW is committed to maintaining a secure learning and research environment, and strongly condemns this illegal building occupation and the antisemitic statement that was issued by a suspended student group Monday. The University will not be intimidated by this sort of offensive and destructive behavior and will continue to oppose antisemitism in all its forms.'
