A local villager in Indian-administered Kashmir has told of the sense of fear which is gripping residents as tensions continue to escalate between India and Pakistan. The situation has intensified after India launched military strikes on targets in Pakistan early on Wednesday morning, which come just over two weeks after a deadly attack on tourists in Pahalgam in the Indian-controlled Kashmir. The Indian attacks were met with a strong response from Pakistan. At least 15 civilians were killed and over 50 others wounded in clashes between Indian and Pakistani troops across the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir on Wednesday, according to local media reports. Later on Wednesday evening, a Pakistani military spokesman said firing was "ongoing" at the LoC and said the Pakistani side would take retaliatory action against Indian attacks. In the village of Salamabad, located in India-controlled Kashmir by the Line of Control between the two countries, the situation has led to widespread anxiety, with many choosing to stay indoors.
