Unused water storage jars decorated with paintings at Buddhist temple
A Buddhist temple converted unused water storage jars into a colourful outdoor gallery.
Monks at the Wat Phai Moo Khit Satthatham shrine in Ang Thong, Thailand, repurposed the old water containers by decorating them with stunning paintings to be displayed on temple grounds.
The vibrant mini murals depicted historical figures and scenes of Thailand's cultural heritage, including the Royal Barge Suphannahong used in royal processions, and nostalgic sights of schoolchildren rowing across the Noi River in 1969.
Temple abbot Phra Khru Wirunthammarak said the jars were donated by locals who had stopped using them to store rainwater.
He said: 'These jars aren't used much anymore since rainwater can be contaminated by bird droppings from the roof, and many people already have their own water supply.
'Instead of letting the jars go to waste, I decided to have them painted with past landscapes. I had artists decorate them, to help younger generations see what our city looked like in earlier times.
'More residents are still donating jars, which I plan on also decorating with more paintings.'
