Trucker lifted to safety as vehicle hangs from the edge of highway
A truck driver was lifted to safety after his vehicle was left hanging off the edge of a highway in Kentucky.
The Louisville Fire Department responded to a semi-truck crash on I-65 South, just south of the Kennedy Bridge, on Sunday, May 4, at approximately 9:47 am.
Dramatic footage shows a firefighter assisting the driver after being lowered into the truck's cab using a high-point rope system.
The driver was safely transferred to Louisville Metro Emergency Medical Services following the rescue, which lasted around 30 minutes.
Louisville Metro Police managed traffic in the area during the incident.
City officials praised the coordinated effort, highlighting the teamwork from the initial 911 call to the actions of fire crews, police, and EMS personnel.
Authorities expressed gratitude that no injuries were reported during the crash.
