Tourists flee as fire breaks out at hotel in Pattaya
This is the dramatic moment tourists fled as a fire broke out at a hotel in Pattaya.
Footage shows guests lugging their bags and suitcases outside the 29-storey La Santir Condominium, where a blaze erupted on the 19th floor, on May 7.
Police and firefighters arrived at the scene after receiving a report at 8:06 pm local time.
They found black smoke billowing as bright orange flames ripped through room 1911 where the fire is believed to have originated.
Police Captain Phuttharak Sonkhamharn of the Pattaya City Police Station said: 'The renter of the room, a foreign tourist, said that he had left the air conditioner on while running some errands. He said he rushed back to the condo when he received a call informing him that there was a fire. As for the cause, it is believed that it was due to an electrical short circuit.'
An onlooker said she was taking a video of the Pattaya skyline when she noticed the fire growing inside the condo.
She said: 'People were screaming that there was a fire in the building. The firefighters were called to the scene and tourists began evacuating. It was terrifying because we thought the fire would spread quickly.'
Officers said there were no injuries or casualties as the guests were immediately evacuated.
