On May 5 in Shijiazhuang, Hebei, a grandmother was using a rope to pull her young granddaughter—who was sitting in a ride-on toy car—into the elevator on their way home.

When the elevator doors opened, the grandmother stepped out first. However, the ride-on car hadn’t made it out yet, and the elevator doors began to close. The elevator didn’t detect that the rope was caught in the door and started ascending, lifting the toy car and the girl into the air. The girl was yanked off the ground and fell, and the ride-on car, suspended by the rope, eventually dropped back into the elevator when the rope snapped.

Fortunately, the girl was only frightened and not seriously injured.
