Emergency services on scene at Kidderminster General Hospital after staff and patients were evacuated following a suspected explosion.

Firefighters were seen on Friday 9 May wrapping a vehicles boot window that had been shattered.

An NHS staff member who did not want to be named said: 'We were evacuated due to a suspected explosion in the mobile MRI scanner.'

Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust said on Facebook: 'We are aware of an ongoing incident at Kidderminster Hospital.

‘As a precautionary measure, the Robertson Centre has been evacuated.

‘As a result, all planned appointments scheduled in this building for today have been cancelled.

‘If you were due to attend an appointment with one of our mental health teams based in the Robertson Centre, please do not attend.

‘A member of our team will contact you as soon as possible to rearrange your appointment.

‘There is not believed to be any wider risk to patients elsewhere in the hospital; those receiving care on Wyre Forest Ward remain unaffected by the evacuation.

‘However, as a precaution, we kindly ask that you refrain from visiting the ward and hospital while the incident is ongoing.

‘If you have any questions or concerns, please get in touch with the team involved in your care.’
