.PRISTINA, KOSOVO - MAY 9, 2025: Three months after Kosovo's general election on Feb. 9, the country remains in political deadlock as parliament once again failed to elect a speaker, despite holding regular sessions since April 15. A session on Thursday began with a vote to establish a temporary commission for a secret ballot speaker election. However, most political parties declined to nominate members, leaving the vote inconclusive. The acting speaker postponed the session to Sunday, May 11. Parliament must elect its speaker and deputies before a new government can be formed. A prime ministerial candidate must then secure at least 61 votes in a confidence vote.
