VE Day 2025 Lydd
Our first time attending the VE day celebrations in our little town. We were really impressed. There were representatives from the Lydd Army Camp, which included a small contingent of Ukrainian soldiers. Members of the Seaside Singers from Romney Marsh entertained us with old WWII songs, we also received a free box of fish and chips for our supper...and then the highlight was the lighting of the beacon. Centuries ago, beacon lighting was the old alarm messaging system through the coastal regions, signalling a threat of invasion. Now, beacons are lighted throughout UK to signal peace on the 80th Anniversary of Victory in Europe WW2.
