AERIAL SHOT OF SMOKE RISING FROM TARGETED AREAS UNKNOWN LOCATION, NEAR LINE OF CONTROL, INDIA - RELEASED ON MAY 10, 2025 - RESTRICTION: USERS MUST CREDIT “INDIAN ARMY” HANDOUT — EDITORIAL USE ONLY — The Indian Army on Saturday, May 10 carried out what it described as a "coordinated fire assault" on suspected militant launchpads located near the Line of Control (LoC), in response to alleged attempted drone strikes in the Indian-administered regions of Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab. Pakistan accused India of launching missile strikes early Saturday on several critical Pakistani military installations, including the Noor Khan Airbase, Shorkot Airbase and Murid Airbase. Pakistan’s air defense systems "successfully intercepted and neutralized these hostile attacks in time," according to a government statement on X. "There have been no casualties or material losses," it said. It also said that "India must now prepare for Pakistan’s response." The government emphasized that the Armed Forces of Pakistan are "fully prepared to defend the homeland, airspace, and national security." The Indian army said Saturday that Pakistan drone strikes continued along its western border. “Pakistan’s blatant escalation with drone strikes and other munitions continues along our western borders,” it said on X. In one incident, “multiple enemy armed drones” were spotted above Khasa Cantonment in the city of Amritsar in Punjab state, said the military. It added that the “hostile drones were instantly engaged and destroyed by our air defense units.“ “Pakistan’s blatant attempt to violate India’s sovereignty and endanger civilians is unacceptable. The Indian Army will thwart enemy designs,” it said. The statement came after Pakistan announced "Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos," or "Iron Wall," firing missiles in retaliation to New Delhi's "Operation Sindoor," launched inside Pakistan on May 6, which killed 33 victims and injured 62, according to the Pakistan army. At least 17 people have been killed along the Line of Control in Indian-administered Kashmir. While Pakistan announced missile attacks, the Indian army noted drones and "other munitions" above its skies, without further explanation.
