...KHAN YOUNIS, GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - MAY 9, 2025: Continued Israeli attacks and an ongoing blockade have pushed Gaza’s health system to the brink, leaving hospitals like Nasser Hospital in southern Khan Younis critically under-resourced and overwhelmed. According to hospital authorities, the facility’s field hospital is infested with pests, lacks proper insulation, and is dangerously short on medications. The blockade has made it impossible to maintain a sterile environment, and basic medical supplies are running out. Despite the dire conditions, patients still travel long distances in desperate need of treatment. Medical staff warn that the crumbling infrastructure is leaving many without access to life-saving care. The health system has collapsed. Survivors are being abandoned to die. Since March 2, Israel has kept Gaza’s crossings closed to food, medical, and humanitarian aid, deepening an already humanitarian crisis in the enclave, according to government, human rights, and international reports. Nearly 52,800 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza in a brutal Israeli onslaught since October 2023, most of them women and children. The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
