Los Angeles, United States - May 09, 2025 05/09/2025 09:20 am GMT-0700 NORTH HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Los Angeles police officers responded to a call regarding a suspect armed with a knife at a residence on Van Noord Avenue. The individual was involved in a stabbing incident and was reportedly hiding behind the home. Air support advised officers that the suspect was located in a back house on the property, prompting LAPD to establish a perimeter around the residence. During the standoff, the suspect could be heard screaming in both English and Arabic. Meanwhile, neighbors, including a man, a woman, their baby, and their dog, were evacuated from their home for safety. Approximately 40 minutes into the standoff, smoke began rising from the backyard. Flames quickly followed as the suspect threw furniture, including a mattress, into the growing fire. Los Angeles Fire Department units were called to extinguish the fire while the suspect remained on the property and was not yet in custody. After firefighters confirmed the blaze was under control, law enforcement took the suspect into custody and discovered a knife nearby. The suspect was later transported to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries.
