A clumsy pet cat's head was stuck between two tree branches before being rescued by the owner.

The three-month-old kitten named Mao Mao was playing in the garden when she tried to hop through the narrow gap but failed in Phayao, Thailand.

Footage shows Mao Mao softly crying while owner Kookkik Chamaiporn was laughing at the blunder.

Mao Mao was caught in an awkward position with her hind legs touching the ground and front paws stretched forward on March 20.

Kookkik said: 'I heard Mao Mao crying at the back of the house. I was cooking breakfast for my family when I heard my kitten. I found it very funny the position she was in.'

Kookkik gently plucked Mao Mao from between the branches and took her back inside the house to have a drink of water.
