The Peregrine Falcon is classified as vulnerable in Victoria, which is the conservation level just below endangered. This is a remarkable good news story as human intervention, by way of the production of granite slabs for early building materials, has left areas of exposed cliff faces. The height and ledges of these faces is absolutely suitable for the needs of a nesting pair of Peregrine Falcons. 14 year old 2024 Victorian Junior Landcare award winner Tavish Bloom, also a budding nature cinematographer, spent hours amongst the granite quarry blocks, climbing up old granite stacks and decommissioned cranes to get his beloved footage for the world to enjoy, and to bring attention to our declining bird species.
