Bakersfield, United States - May 11, 2025 05/10/2025 08:52 pm GMT-0700 BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Bakersfield Police Department responded to multiple reports of a two-vehicle traffic collision at the intersection of Holden Way and Hughes Lane. Upon arrival, officers discovered two occupants in a yellow Corvette who sustained moderate to major injuries. A third individual, found in a black SUV that had overturned, was declared deceased at the scene. According to the Bakersfield PD, a second occupant of the SUV sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Emergency medical personnel from the Bakersfield Fire Department provided aid to the Corvette occupants, and Hall Ambulance transported them to a nearby hospital for treatment. The preliminary investigation into the crash indicates that the SUV was traveling southbound on Hughes Lane and attempted an eastbound turn onto Holden Way. During the turn, the SUV entered the path of a northbound vehicle on Hughes Lane, resulting in a broadside collision. According to the Bakersfield PD press release, the impact caused the SUV to overturn. At this time, speed does not appear to be a factor in the crash; however, possible drug or alcohol involvement is under investigation pending toxicology results.
