US, Bakersfield: Bakersfield Firefighters Rescue Stranded Tubers from Kern River

Bakersfield, United States - May 11, 2025 05/10/2025 08:52 pm GMT-0700 BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Bakersfield Fire Department responded to a call about four people trapped on an island in the Kern River, east of Lake Ming. Upon arrival, firefighters found a group stranded while tubing down the river. Firefighters conducted an extensive rescue operation, deploying rafts and staging at multiple sections of the river. They successfully rescued the stranded individuals one by one without incident. The operation lasted several hours. Although the ages of those rescued varied from minors to adults and initial reports indicated only four, the exact number of individuals remains unclear.
