Three people in hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries following fire
A fire has ripped through a home leaving three people seriously injured with potentially life-threatening injuries.
A man and woman in their 80s and another man in his 50s were rushed to hospital after the fire in the early hours of this morning (11/05).
Firefighters were called to an address on Holyhead Road, Wednesbury, West Midlands at 3:15am.
Neighbours reportedly dialled 999 after hearing a loud bang at about 3am.
The exterior of the house appears to be completely destroyed as footage shows blackened walls and damaged windows.
Fire service investigators in white overalls were also seen carrying out checks of the property.
West Midlands Fire Service issued a statement via X at 3:48am asking people to "please avoid the area, where possible."
It is the second incident in the area in a matter of days, following a double house blaze in Bilston on Saturday in which a man in his 70s died.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "We were called following a fire at an address on Holyhead Road, Wednesbury at around 3.15am this morning."
"A man and a woman in their 80s and a second man in his 50s have been taken to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries. "
"We are working alongside fire service investigators to establish the cause of the blaze."
