A huge python was caught hiding in the engine of a pickup truck parked in a family's driveway.

Footage shows the animal rescuers probing around the vehicle with a flashlight before they opened the bonnet and found the reptile coiled inside in Bangkok, Thailand.

It was easily removed by the skilful snake handler with bare hands and taken with them to be released.

Animal rescuer Palatip said: 'The residents called us for help, saying there was a snake inside their car.'

The reticulated python is found throughout Southeast Asia, where they live in forests, swamps, canals and even in cities, causing them to come into conflict with humans.

The species is one of the world's largest snakes and can eat humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats and other snakes.
