NEW DELHI, INDIA - MAY 12, 2025: Air travel resumed in India on Monday, May 12, following the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, with passengers arriving at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi to board flights. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) announced the reopening of 32 airports across northern and western parts of the country for civil aviation operations, which had been suspended amid heightened tensions between the two neighbors. The reopening marks a step toward normalization following days of uncertainty caused by the recent escalation. Earlier, Pakistan also reopened its airspace for all kinds of flights minutes after the ceasefire announcement, the country's Civil Aviation Authority said. The moves come amid a US-mediated ceasefire between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, Pakistan and India, following a week of heightened military escalation which included firing of retaliatory missiles across the border. At least 54 people have been killed on the two sides of divided Kashmir and Pakistan. Reporting by Amarjeet Kumar Singh // Writing by Mustafa Tuncer
