This is the heartwarming moment a kitten stuck in a narrow metal pipe was rescued by locals who carefully cut through the object.

Riska Amelia Sukmana heard the distressed cries of the cat beneath the gazebo at her parents' home in Sukabumi, Indonesia.

She then investigated the garden and discovered the hapless furry creature trapped inside a watering can on May 9.

Riska initially tried to pull the feline free, but its head was tightly wedged in the narrow opening. She then called her relatives for help.

Footage shows a man using pliers to pry open the pipe before cutting through the metal to free the crying kitten.

Riska said: 'I think the cat had wandered off in our compound, and I tried searching for its mother.

'The kitten was okay, but its front legs and head were bleeding. We decided to adopt the cat.'
