The prisoners arrived at Al Aqsa Martyrs Hospital for medical checks after being released in Deir al-Balah, Gaza. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) facilitated the safe transfer of the prisoners and confirmed its continued commitment to supporting humanitarian efforts and protecting the rights of detainees under international law. More than 9,900 Palestinians are being held in Israeli prisons, where they face torture, starvation and medical neglect—conditions that have led to multiple deaths, according to reports by Palestinian and Israeli media and human rights organizations. Meanwhile, Israel estimates that 58 Israeli captives remain in Gaza, including 21 who are still alive. At least 52,908 Palestinians have been killed in Israel’s genocidal war since October 2023, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday. A ministry statement said that 46 people were killed in Israeli attacks in the enclave in the last 24 hours, while 73 others were injured, taking the number of injuries to 119,721 in the Israeli onslaught. “Many victims are still trapped under the rubble and on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them,” it added. The Israeli army resumed its assaults on the Gaza Strip on March 18 and has since killed 2,780 people and injured nearly 7,700 others, shattering a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that took hold in January. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave. Reporting by Mohammed Nassar / Writing by Nur Zeynep Dukmen
