[Voiceover] Chinese auto parts producers are upgrading their production lines to accelerate the country's digitization of its manufacturing sector. The Mianyang Fulin Precision Machining Company in southwest China's Sichuan Province makes electric vehicle reducers, or transmissions, and have just installed an automated production line. Now company executives say a reducer can be assembled in less than two minutes on average. [Soundbite] Liu Rui, deputy general manager, Mianyang Fulin Precision Machining Co., Ltd.: "We invested about 33 million U.S. dollars in upgrading the original production lines for new energy vehicle reducers, differentials, and other auto parts. We bought more than 130 units of high-end intelligent equipment, such as CNC high-speed gear grinding machines and CNC lathes, making the production lines automated and intelligent." [Voiceover] The production lines are also equipped with both online testing systems and inspection hardware that allows for real-time monitoring and data analysis of the production process. [Soundbite] Xu Wen, production supervisor, Electric Drive Division, Mianyang Fulin Precision Machining Co., Ltd.: "With 360-degree cameras providing unobstructed, zero-blind-spot views, and a self-learning model, the production lines can detect abnormal materials through image recognition. The accuracy rate has increased from 98 percent with manual inspection to 99.8 percent. This higher recognition accuracy has greatly improved production quality.” [Voiceover] The company says the optimization and production line adjustments have helped the factory reduce its annual manufacturing and operating costs by more than 2.7 million U.S. dollars.
