VARIOUS OF WIDE SHOT OF SMOKE RISING OVER MOUNT MARAPI AFTER ERUPTION WEST SUMATRA, INDONESIA - MAY 14, 2025: Mount Marapi erupted once again on Wednesday (May 14) sending a column of ash approximately 1.6 kilometres into the sky in Tanah Datar District, West Sumatra, Indonesia. There are no immediate reports of casualties or infrastructure damage while access and activities are restricted for residents within a 3-kilometer zone surrounding the eruption site. Since its initial eruption on December 3, 2023, Mount Marapi has erupted 439 times. Mount Marapi, stands 2,891 meters (9,485 feet) tall and is situated on the island of Sumatra, where authorities have long prohibited residents and tourists from hiking within a 3-kilometer radius of its crater.
