Workers escape by inches as drilling rig collapses onto road in China
On May 13, in Zhuhai, Guangdong, a rotary drilling rig collapsed suddenly while construction work was underway at an intersection, crashing onto the road.
Dashcam footage from the scene shows several cars waiting near the intersection when the massive machine toppled without warning. Two workers in uniform standing on the traffic island were nearly struck, managing to narrowly escape in a dramatic moment.
According to staff from the Zhuhai Emergency Management Bureau, the incident occurred during morning construction. Fortunately, no passersby were injured, and no vehicles were damaged.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
