A couple bought a Victorian house for $550k - and were surprised to find a 1920s vintage breast pump in their floorboards while renovating.

Amanda DeRise, 32, and her husband, Vinny, 43, stumbled across the six bedroom house in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey, and fell in love.

While buying the property the couple discovered a well under their porch steps - which was so deep the measuring tape couldn't reach all the way down to the bottom.

They bought the home in October 2024 and began gutting out the second floor - and started to notice things peeking out of the floorboards.

Amanda has found around 100 items - including old letters, a 1920s breast pump, and a 1948 Stan Musial rookie card, which some estimate could be worth $1k.

Amanda, who works in recruiting, said: "We've pulled out about 100 items."

"One of the coolest things was a vintage breast pump from the 1920s - it looks like a glass horn."

"It was not on my bingo card to find a vintage breast pump in the walls of my house."

"I'm collecting things to put back in the same spot for the next people to find in 150 years."

Amanda and Vinny, who works in tech, bought the late 1800s property in October 2024.

Amanda said: "I just fell in love with it."

"It has so much potential and so much charm."

"The bones are so good."

They discovered a well in their back garden.

Amanda said: "We found a well in the back yard that needed to be filled."

"The back porch steps were deteriorated and needed to be redone."

"The repair workers found the well. We didn't know how deep it was - the measuring tape couldn't hit the bottom."

The couple started work on the second floor first and noticed things peaking out of the floorboards.

Amanda said: "One day I looked at the work they had done and I noticed something in the corner."

"I could see glass jars."

"There was a tiny picture of a little girl, old letters."

"A 1948 Stan Musial rookie card."

Amanda has filled a crate with her finds - and has donated some items back to the town.

She has also found lots of figurines which she imagines were put there by a child.

She has decided to put some of her own things back into the walls for someone else to find in 100 years time.

Amanda says their renovation may take five years but she is trying to keep the characteristics of the original building.

The home has antique furniture left behind by the previous owner and the original butler stairs - which is one of Amanda's favourite features.

She is going to try and restore and repurpose a china cabinet and old pedal organ.

She said: "I'm trying to keep it's charm."

"I want to do it justice."

She estimates it will cost another $500k to renovate but it will be the couple's "forever home"."

Items the couple have uncovered in their home -

- A 1920s breast pump
- 1948 Stan Musial rookie card
- Cigarette boxes
- YoYo
- Old greeting cards
- Letters
- Rolling papers
- Newspaper clippings
- A multi tool
- Grey hair restore dye
- Baby talcum
- Action figurines
