The National Narcotics Agency of West Sumatra, Indonesia, destroyed 6.8 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine that belonged to a family network.
The West Sumatra Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) destroyed evidence of class one narcotics, a type of methamphetamine weighing 6,854.57 grams, or 6.8 kilograms, as a result of a disclosure made on March 7, 2025, in Payakumbuh City.
Before the destruction was carried out by blending it with water and carbolic acid, BNN first carried out a random authenticity test to ensure that the evidence destroyed was really crystal methamphetamine.
Head of the West Sumatra BNNP, Ricky Yanuarfi, in Padang City on Thursday, 15 May, said that in this case his party had arrested four suspects consisting of one woman and three men who were still related.
Currently, the one-star general continued, narcotics dealers in Indonesia and international dealers are starting to increasingly use family networks, women, and children as dealers in illicit goods.
Where, in the case of the latest BNN arrest in Bukittinggi City, 1.5 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine was transported by two women from Aceh Province who stuffed the illicit goods into their crotch to avoid inspection by officers.
SOT : BRIGADIR GENERAL OF POLICE (BRIGJEN POL) RICKY YANUARFI - HEAD OF THE NATIONAL NARCOTICS AGENCY OF WEST SUMATRA
SUBTITLE: "We have arrested four suspects who are from the same family. One person we have followed up on because the order was at the Depok Penitentiary (LP). We have arrested them and brought them here. This is a family network consisting of Uncle, Wife, then Ex-Husband and Nephew. This is what we are concerned about because the network of narcotics dealers recruits people who have economic needs, and they do it because of economic needs too. As yesterday we also revealed a women's network connected to the East Kalimantan network, "So they also took advantage in East Kalimantan by recruiting children, while in West Sumatra they recruited women to distribute narcotics in Sumatra and Java. If the money was multiplied by IDR 1.5 billion, that means that for just seven, it would be around IDR 10.5 billion. Nearly 30 thousand people were saved from the 7 large packages that we seized."
