A man rescued a gosling after a crow attacked its flock and tried to fly away with it.

Heorhii Levchuk, 35, was fishing in the Ashton Canal near Manchester, when he witnessed a crow attacking a baby goose.

Heorhii saw the bird swoop into the flock, grab the gosling before attempting to fly away.

He yelled at the crow, which caused it to drop the gosling onto the path.

A video showing the aftermath of the incident captures the mother goose honking frantically, while Heorhii helps the gosling back onto its feet.

He then placed it into the stream so it could swim off and reunite with its flock.

Heorhii, who is originally from Ukraine but lives in Manchester, said: " Yesterday evening after work I decided to go fishing on the canal near my house. "

"Suddenly I see a crow crash into a flock of geese, grab the smallest one and fly away with him! "

"I yelled at him and it let go!"
